U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Wing gears up for a test of their knowledge and application of Ready Airman Training skills during a Culminating Exercise (CULEX) beginning March 5.
“The CULEX will test cadets’ adaptability, leadership and the mission execution skills critical to succeeding in expeditionary environments, and demonstrating their preparedness to meet future challenges,” said Brig. Gen. Gavin Marks, Academy commandant. “This exercise will assess the readiness and warfighting skills of our cadets and validate their military training this academic year by immersing them in dynamic, high-pressure scenarios that simulate real-world situations.”
This three-day, round-the-clock exercise is designed to test and evaluate cadets’ proficiency in a range of critical skills necessary for agile combat employment in a simulated operational environment. These include land navigation, tactical combat casualty care, active threat response, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive training, and other foundational warfighting and leadership principles.
“The exercise is designed to be both physically and mentally demanding, ensuring graduating lieutenants are prepared for the challenges of leading Airmen and Guardians in a highly dynamic environment,” said Marks. “We must advance our efforts to ensure warfighting expertise, lethality, and readiness are embedded in every corner of our fighting force, starting with our next generation of leaders.”
Academy Drive will be closed from Parade Loop to Cadet Drive for the entirety of the exercise. Neighbors can expect increased noise, dust and smoke, specifically north of the Academy, to support this training exercise, March 5-8, 2025. Agencies from across the Academy are supporting the CULEX, which could impact some services.
