The Academy will conduct an orientation for the Academy's Class of 2011 appointees April 16 - 17.

Appointees are high school students who have been granted an appointment to the Academy to become future cadets. The appointee orientation is designed to introduce Academy life to potential cadets to help them in their decision whether or not to accept their appointment as members of the Class of 2011, which starts June 28. Each appointee will "shadow" a cadet through a typical day, including attending their cadet classes, observing the noon meal formation, and eating lunch in Mitchell Hall with 4,200 cadets.

Media will be able to follow an appointee and cadet escort for the following events:

April 16:

9 a.m. Superintendent, Lt. Gen. John Regni, welcomes appointees and parents

11:30 a.m. -- 1 p.m. Appointee/parents receive walking tour of Honor Court and Chapel

April 17:

8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Appointees spend the day with cadet escorts.

News media interested in covering this event must call the Academy Public Affairs Office by 4:30 p.m., April 13, at (719) 333-7731 to sign up and for more details.
