Youth Fire Safety Camp:
The Youth Fire Safety Camp is annual event that occurs in June, 1000-1400, for ages 8-12 years old held at Fire Station #1. The morning session consist of an antique fire truck display, live fire extinguisher training, puppet show, educational materials, and a bouncy house. Lunch will be served and the afternoon session consist of firefighting related activities such as bucket brigade, fire hose pull, and a mini firefighter's challenge. Please bring a towel and wear clothes that can get wet...there will be water.
Fire Department Open House:
The Fire Department Open House is an annual event that occurs in June, 1100-1400 for the base population held at Fire Station #1. There will be an antique fire truck on display along with other fire trucks and equipment for viewing. Other things planned is the Flight for Life Helicopter, Wings of Blue, Security Forces equipment display and working dog demonstration, Mountain Rescue equipment, Fire Wise display, Rocky Mountain Ambulance, Vehicle extrication and or live fire demonstration. Lunch will be served, a bouncy house, a water slide and fire prevention educational material available.
Fire Prevention Week:
Fire Prevention Week is a national program that occurs during the week (from Sunday to Saturday) in which October 9 falls, it commemorate the great Chicago of 1871. The Fire Department displays educational posters and banners at various locations, make visits to the Youth center, Child Development Center and Annex, visit Douglass Valley Elementary school, Fire truck and fire prevention educational displays at the Base Exchange, and the Fire Department offers live fire extinguisher training and fire evacuation drills during this week upon request.
